Yuri Mania 28

"Gokigenyou oneesama~", is what it says in the middle of the picture above. Yes, it seems like I'm going back to where I first started with Yuri Mania, Maria-sama ga Miteru aka MariMite. It was sometime last week that I read the news (from AnimeNation) about it being made into a live action movie. However, since then, the official site (pictured above) had named their co-stars for the movie.

As reported by AnimeNation, 13-year-old Honoka Miki will play the role of Fukuzawa Yumi and 18-year-old Haru will play the role of Ogasawara Sachiko. I'd like to think both these actresses fit their look, but I wonder how the movie will fare because a lot of live action adaptations just don't work well. Fortunately this is a pretty "normal" story that doesn't need special effects. So I'm really hoping this movie will work.

Here's a larger picture of Haru (photo from Nippon Cinema).

And a slightly larger view of Honoka Miki (photo from her official website).

Ok, breaking news aside... Since I was busy screen capturing Bakemonogatari for my latest post, I thought I'd put some of the screenshots here from the BakeYurigatari arc of the anime.

Kanbaru Suruga confessing...

These episodes probably what made me determined enough to finally watch the anime. Little did I know that I would fall in love with Senjougahara Hitagi so quickly...

Same difference ^^;

The next screenshot is from the opening sequence to this arc. Someone showed me this earlier when it first appeared, but I didn't have the time to watch it back then...

Minor Spoiler Alert!

That's all for now! Until next time... Gokigenyou!

  2. What? There's going to be a Marimite live action? Will have to keep an eye out for that.
    Thanks for the heads up!

  3. @K: Indeed. Indeed. I hope the movie will be interesting rather than corny. I'm curious if they'll ever do a Strawberry Panic live action now. And thank you ^^

    @Smithy: Yeah, I was just as surprised as you are. It's still early in development, but I'm gonna keep up with the news on here if I see anything else :)

  4. Wait, what? One of the actresses is 13?

    Fucking hell, and I was about to look forward to watching a movie about lesbians...

  5. @Snark: To be fair, MariMite had always been about that age in the anime. Then again the lesbians aren't that hardcore in MariMite :P

  6. For some reason that photo of Fukuyawa Yumi really freaks me out O_o

    lol at Suruga; it's like they wanteed to be as honest as possible with the viewers: "here's a lesbian into yuri,expect lots of eye candy!" Seriously, they're being so honest here, what with all the freaking lilies floating on the opening ahahahahaha!

    I'm gonna find out what the story is about (why is there so much scholastic material coming out of that girl's skirt for example) and check it out too.

  7. @Yaku: Hm? Which photo? The actress?

    That opening is freaking awesome! I was sorry I delayed in watching the anime XD

  8. ah. I thought it was live action Strawberry Panic at first ^^;
    Man, I would've clawed my way into that movie even if it killed me.

    But well, Haru looks fit for the role, but but I hope the retain the hair for Yumi. I can see why they would never do Goku or someone's hair, but Yumi's hair seems quite plausible... Why aren't those little tidbits of canon ever valued?

  9. @Ningyo: Strawberry Panic live action movie might not be in theatres, but in adult movie rental right away XD

    Oh they HAVE to do Yumi's hair that way. It's way too simple not to replicate. And didn't they replicate Goku's hair in that Dragonball Evolution movie? :P

  10. I recently got an email from a reader about live-action marimite as well. Seems really exciting!
    I wonder how much yuri they'll put into it.
    It could end up being a really tamed non-yuri friendship series.

  11. @Yi: I worry about it being a tame version as well... I mean one of the actress is 13 years old after all. MariMite has been one of the tamer ones anyway, right? I wouldn't mind seeing Rosa Gigantea Sei teasing Yumi and Sachiko getting jealous over that XD
