Yuri Mania 12

Good day everyone! I am off to Boston tonight at 11:30 PM, so I will be unable to post anything for a while or hang around online because I'll be mostly at the convention, AnimeBoston. However, I can't just leave without posting one of my yuri posts! Also posted as Weekly Lily at DannyChoo.com.

The above shirt is actually acquired from AnimeBoston 2007. I haven't actually worn it because the vendor told me that if I shouldn't put it into a dryer after I wash it. I might just forget this and put it in the dryer anyway... This is the shirt that initiated my search for all things yuri, so it's appropriate that I post it here eventually. When I first seen the picture I couldn't tell who they were since it was black and white... then as I saw the finished product I realized that it's Winry Rockbell and Riza Hawkeye from Fullmetal Alchemist!! Very surprisingly it's Winry that's taking the initiative ^^;

This will be the third year I'll be attending AnimeBoston. I'm also visiting a friend that I've met from the days when I played World of Warcraft. I think our common rabid fandom of Rei Ayanami made us real close friends even though he's way over in the East Coast and I'm in the West Coast.

Every year I give him stuff that I bought and decided I don't want them anymore... but one man's unwanted things is another's must have items! Well that and it's sorta like a belated birthday present for him.

Last year or early this year (I can't remember) I bought the Yomako-sensei oppai mousepad. It was on sale at Hobby Search. I thought I'll keep another for just in cases, but I also thought that if I didn't want it, I know my friend would. I figured I have enough oppai mousepads with Yoko and Haruka ^^;

Back of the box... what's it say there in the speech box? Yomako's oppai/padding is much bigger than Yoko's. It's heavier too... as proven in the bottom flap of the box. It's just not closing properly!

In case no one knows who Yomako-sensei is... It's an identity that Yoko uses after the end of the first arc in Gurren Lagann. She doesn't want people to know who she really is. She teaches a class of elementary age students in a small island. It wasn't until 7 years later that she return to action in her usual bikini & micro shorts sniper outfit.

This is what she looks like outside the box. Also a view from behind the oppai and a view from the top of her head. I took a few pictures just in case I feel like I shouldn't have given her away ^^;

And here are all of my oppai mousepads compared with Yomako-sensei! Haruka seems to be the smallest compared to the other two... Maybe because Haruka was a part of a magazine premium?

And what's a Yuri Mania post without a couple of docking pictures? *Yuriyuriyuri* DOKKAN! Docking sequence complete!

Hmm... some kind of weird time-slip yuri docking? What would they say to each other before they start docking? ^^;

The two that I owned wants to dock as well! It looks like Haruka is prepared for it with her hands on her chest.

And now Haruka gets a turn with the teacher... Hot for a teacher? Yomako-sensei's oppai is just swallowing Haruka whole!

Yuri Mania 11: Candy Boy 1-4

Gokigenyou! As promised for this week's yuri post is a continuation of my Candy Boy coverage (jeez, that doesn't sound good at all now that I've written it...). I wanted to review up to episode 7 but I haven't found a subtitled version yet. I'm also not sure whether I should continue covering the rest or not. If I do continue I'm going to wait until the 8th episode comes out.

Episode 1: The Two's Distance

Kana suddenly remembers about her and Yuki walking under the same umbrella when they were young. She's suddenly happy when the weather forecast says it will rain soon, but what happens when she actually forgot her umbrella?

Sakuya knows that she's no match for Yukino for Kanade's love, but she keeps trying anyway. Very interesting aspect of her that I like. Persistent, but it's too bad she won't get what she wants... Very funny scenes regarding Yuki and Kana's dorm life, especially their mornings. I actually didn't find this episode til recently, because I thought the Prologue episode was episode 1 >.>

Episode 2: Can I have this please?

It's almost Christmas and the sisters are thinking of what to give to each other for presents. They are also planning to go home for Christmas with the money they have saved up. So what happens when they start to shop while carrying a big wad of money that they plan to use to go home with?

It seems each of the sisters have her own obsessions... Kana's got figure on the brain and Yuki loves cushions and pillows for some weird reason. I guess Kana's chest doesn't live up to her standard? Heheh. Pretty funny and interesting surprise at the end of this one.

Episode 3: Crossing Barriers

Nosebleed for some reason...

Somehow the sisters made it back to their hometown in Hokkaido after all, but not without an extra baggage, Sakuya... Upon arrival they are greeted by their younger sister, Shizuku. Unfortunately Shizuku isn't too happy about how close Yukino and Kanade have been in Tokyo.

A full episode that shows the life of the other sister, who seem to be forgotten at times by Kana since she's got Yuki with her in Tokyo. There's a sad tone to this episode, but thankfully Sakuya is there to liven it up!

Episode 4: It's Hepatica, right...

Continuing from the last episode, Kana and Yuki are trying to reconcile with Shizu slowly. Good thing Sakuya helps out a little by telling Shizu when she first started to like Kana.

The episode starts with flashback when all three sisters were close, and got along so well a few years back when they were still together. The dynamics were about the same that Shizu looked like she still favour Yuki while Kana takes her abuse, lol. The episode ends with them sleeping together in one bed. Which is why this episode is called Hepatica; a flower that has three lobed leaves. I understand how Shizu feels... I'd hate being left out by someone I like too.

The 4th episode is a good place to stop the review too since it's the end of an arc, but it still continues more with the twincest shenanigans. For now I will stop and let the fansub release catch up. ^^

My "Desk"

I wonder if Haruhi loves that mousepad on my "desk" too... This is my desk. Well this isn't really a desk per se, but it is where I have my computer and where I use it. I don't have a lot of figures on it like others that have posted on DannyChoo.com for the May 2009 "Your Desk" giveaway. I don't intend to participate because I have won the big one last time, so it doesn't seem right. Plus I have no chance anyway. ^^;

Anyway... this is my "desk" which consists of an old CRT monitor box with a bunch of phone books to prop up the flat screen monitor. Two stool from Ikea; one for the keyboard, one for the mouse. Another softer, footstool or footrest from Ikea that serves as a "chair". Not the best setup for a computer. Painful on my back, legs and my behind.

BUT if you look at the above setup. It looks great doesn't it? I have the Sony 53" TV as a second monitor. The video card in the computer is set up so that we can connect what's on the computer to the TV. So I can download the anime and then watch it on the big screen! Someone can also use the computer while I watch anime on TV. Very convenient.

This is how I watch most of TV shows like Smallville, Heroes and 24. I'm on the computer while I can peek over to the left to see what's going on in the episode. Though at times I don't really pay attention to the TV since I'm focused mostly on the computer, haha.

I wasn't planning to post the "desk" at home and was planning to repost my desk at the office... I took pictures of them already though. So instead of wasting it, here they are.

This is my Mac at work. Yes, it's an old CRT monitor... Haruhi serves as a reminder for me. Somehow it lost the effect now since I totally do it all the time now. I've added a few more figures compared to the last work desk post.

I also have a PC for my work. I get to use a flat screen for this one because somehow I've killed 2 or 3 CRT monitors at this spot, heheh. My SOS Dan hat is not there permanently...

A closeup of the figures in front of the monitors. I also added a Soul Eater 2009 desktop calendar. Umm... there's this figure of a girl from Fate I added that I don't know the name right now... A little help? Kallen is a new addition and uhh... a Cinamoroll rolling stamp... We all needed stamps for our work recently, so I brought my own.

Seems like my desk at work looks better right? But it IS at work, so I have to make it as fun as possible. If I had a 53" TV at work and able to watch anime on it then it'd be perfect! Of course I wouldn't have any work done that way.....

Yuri Mania 10: Candy Boy

Candy Boy. Sounds like some kind of yaoi thing, eh? Like some kind of shota that'd be used for some guy's plaything, right? Ok, that analogy sounded bad, but this is quite the opposite. Candy Boy is about twin sisters who just recently moved into a dorm to go to school in Tokyo. But of course they're not normal sisters. They're very close sisters to the point of being lovey dovey with each other. Thus why Candy Boy is in my Yuri Mania post!

Candy Boy is one of the first few ONA around. ONA means Original Net Animation where it's released almost irregularly to the NicoNicoDouga site. Other ONA includes Nyoron Churuya-san, The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi-chan and Hetalia Axis Powers (because some people demanded that it was too offensive to be put on television thus why it's only released on the net). Irregularly because I tend to forget about it until someone does the sub for it... Because of this the animation does look good, though Danny has mentioned that it relies mostly on still pictures. I still think it looks beautiful nonetheless and it shows how much time and effort they've put in. I just wished they do more of them...

So I say this is a yuri anime, but it's not very explicit and it doesn't really show any eye candy. But it's still something fun to watch, comedy mixed with drama and romance. It's what you would call a slice-of-life anime.

Candy Boy takes Kanade Sakurai's point of view through most of the episodes. She is the younger of the twin sister, yet she is more mature than Yukino, the older twin. One would also call her a tsundere because of her cool attitude but when she's in the mood, she would be very, very cute!

Yukino Sakurai, the older sister, acts more like the younger sister because of her airheadedness and her selfishness of wanting everything from snacks, items, and her sister's feet... er, love. Although she can be mature when the need arise, like dealing with their younger sister back home. I always like it when she calls out, "Kana-chan, Kana-chan!"

She's got very flexible cheeks...

And then there's the rift who almost caused a split between the sisters, Sakuya Kamiyama, who's got a very disturbing crush on Kanade. Well not really because Kana and Yuki are closer than ever because of her meddling. She is a year younger than the twins and her family is quite rich. She tries to win Kanade over using her riches to her advantage... like building a new dorm that's especially made for her and Kana...

Oh yeah, and she's shameless too.

Finally there's the twin's younger sister, Shizuku Sakurai. She is approximately 3 years younger. She seems to like Yukino more, but in reality she wants to be close to the sisters as much as they are close to each other. She hated the fact that they had to separate when the twins moved to Tokyo, while she stayed home in Hokkaido.

All these episodes are continuous of each other... but they are released with a huge gap between them that you have to watch the previous one to remember what happened. Good thing they're only around 15 minutes each... so there's not much to summarize. I'll try not to spoil anything, but there's really not much to spoil anyway. Just warning you, s'all. I will only summarize the first two that were released chronologically so it won't take too much space.

Episode EX01: Forecast of the Future

Yuki wants to sleep with Kana...

This episode was an extra for the DVD release of Candy Boy. This takes place when Yukino and Kanade first moved into their current dorm. Kana is utterly disappointed with the size of the room so Yuki tries to cheer her up.

Prologue: Side Story for Archive

Yukino answers Kana's question of what she wants for Christmas...

People stare at Saku all the time when she's in stalking mode.

I call this episode 1 for some reason... This episode introduces the whole conflict between the sisters and Sakuya. Kanade tries not to get between Yukino and Sakuya who seem to be getting close to each other.

More to come next week, featuring episodes 1-6 and hopefully 7 (since it was released only recently). It will be a picture heavy post too.
