First Fan Expo in Vancouver

Fan Expo has arrived in Vancouver! Though it is now come and gone when this is posted ^^; Fan Expo have always been one of the biggest combined geekery convention in Canada, but usually only in Toronto. This year it came to Vancouver. I'm hoping the title of my post become "The First Annual Fan Expo in Vancouver", but judging from how successful the turnout was it won't be a surprise if it doesn't happen again next year.

Iron Miku 2+

I thought I'd try out another stop motion with Iron Miku. It's good timing too that the home video release of Iron Man 2 is coming out in 3 more days over here. Good timing, right? ...Well to be honest, I've been working on this since the beginning of this month and I got really lazy to finish it up until now. Oh and I did have that shoulder pain around Labor Day, so I have a part of an excuse to not be able to work on this.

However, I realized that I should finish this, especially for today, since today is my second Blogday. Yep, I've been blogging for 2 years now. Time flies. Last year I did a custom Gundam project, same with the first year I started. I don't have much time this year unfortunately, but I did work on this project... I guess I'll use it to celebrate this second year ^^;

The Melancholy of Saber Lily Part 38

This has also been posted on The Melancholy of Saber Lily site. For the first panel I had to do 2 photos just because I couldn't make it work with the macro lens when I was standing trying to take a picture of Haruhi shaking in my hand... Saber would've been too blurry. Yes, I know what you're thinking... Haruhi's attacked a 1/3 scale Dollfie Dream before so why would she be afraid here. Well perhaps that Unlimited Span... Saber Works scared her off.

Because I Don't Have an Optimus Penguin

For Optimistic Penguin's website 1st anniversary, Ms. Penguin held a contest to make figure comics. The catch is that they have to involve penguins. The only penguin I had was the Prinny Laharl that I got from Anime Expo. I didn't win the contest, but I'm still gonna post mine here just since I already made it a part of The Melancholy of Saber Lily special.

The War on Several Fronts

Yes, I'm still doing my 4koma series... I'm just so very busy lately. Or is it lazy? It seems like both. My work shift has finally been settled for nights. That makes it difficult for me to do anything during the day since I feel like I won't have enough time for my freedom before work. It's also been quite hot, which makes me very lazy in doing anything since I'd sweat too much.

Iron Miku Suits Up

If you're reading this at 10 AM on Friday, the seventh of May, that means I'm at the IMAX theatre watching Iron Man 2. When the first movie came out, it was a sure thing that I will watch it. The trailer just made it so damn cool and when I did see it, I regretted it... That I didn't watch it on the first day! I think it was even better than Dark Knight that came out in the same year, in my opinion :P

Yuri Mania 29

Gokigenyou! Uhuhu looks like we need some more ecchi Yuri Mania here. Though the last YM was very informative, it wasn't too ecchi... So this time with Haruhi in the helm, there's bound to be some ecchiness!

Birthday of Ayanami: Shrine Update

So with the additional new Rei figures, I have to update the shrine, don't I? ^_^ This is part 4 of my Birthday of Ayanami series of posts on March 30th. Rei's birthday is actually based on Megumi Hayashibara's birthday, her voice actress. Megumi is also my favourite voice actress.

The new ones immediately gets front stage... Well just because they work better up front, plus I'm too lazy to move stuff from the back to the front. It seems to work.

The Melancholy of Saber Lily Anniversary

Can you believe I've been doing this 4koma comic series for a year now? Once again I started this out of wanting to do something fun and stupid with my special edition Figmas. I thought it'd be cool to have Saber Lily fighting an RPG-based warrior Haruhi. They had the appropriate gears and both have a sword. With more ideas and demands popping up, I couldn't resist creating more and more!

Gokigenyou! I can't believe I've been saying that for a year now! Yes, it has been a year since I started these yuri posts on my blog. Though it was never been a regular thing here, the Weekly Lily series that started at dannychoo.com and now figure.fm has been going on regularly without missing a beat, even if I've posted near midnight (PST) on Sunday. ^^;

Yuri Mania 22: A Very Lily Christmas

Gokigenyou minna-san! Meri Kurisumasu! By the time this is posted, it should be Christmas or Christmas Eve. I don't usually plan on doing Christmas posts because I'm sure there will be lots out there, but these ideas for yuri 4koma cannot escape my mind! And wow... I haven't done a Yuri Mania since September 0.o

Epilogue

The last of the Dollfie Dream Theatre X Melancholy of Saber Lily collaboration... It's been a long running crossover actually. Wolfheinrich and I intended to just do two parts, but somehow I found more stories along the way than just 2 parts. Oh and above is my tribute to Ultraman. It is relevant to what's happening in the last 2 comics.

Omake

Oh lookit that... It's my 100th post! I'm crying tears of joy as expressed by Mikuru's face here... Ok not really. I didn't really plan too much for my 100th post honestly. I did do quite a bit of work to do the next batch of Saber Lily 4koma though. These ones don't really follow any storylines, so I thought calling them omake is appropriate.

Unlimited Saber Works

The arrival of Saber Lily Nendoroid was a pretty good timing. I was about to collect the poseable figures of Saber together. She came in with EMS shipping because I forgot to change my shipping method at HLJ from the last order ^^; But here she is posing with her older sisters. Saber Lily Figma had to borrow Excalibur from her blue cloth counterpart.

Prelude to the Final Battle

The titular character, Saber Lily, appears! Haruhi has been out of control taking over the pages of The Melancholy of Saber Lily and rampaging (or is it ravaging?) the visiting Dollfies from Wolfheinrich's World. Time for damage control!

The Rescuer

Saber Dollfie finally on her way to rescue her Escalayer onee-sama! This is another Dollfie Dream Theater X Melancholy of Saber Lily, my collaboration with fellow blogger Wolfheinrich. I also had approval from the proud papa to let me get Saber to call Escalayer, "onee-sama". Something a yuri fan like me appreciate very much ^.^

The Melancholy of Saber Lily Part 20

This part was kinda killing me the other night while I'm making this. Maybe there were just so many pictures to cut out from their background? Or maybe the dual panel I was doing. Looks ok, I hope. Did you notice anything in the last panel? :P

I also made a new header that might be useable for Figure.fm; see if Danny likes it enough to be usable as the header. Trying out more of panel breakings and adding something familiar at the end ^_^

Melancholy of Saber Lily: Side B(L)

Gokige... Oh wait, can I say this under this circumstances, can I? ^^; Ummm... yes, I'm doing a different type of 4koma comic this week than what my regular readers are used to, as you can gather from the image above (from Gelbooru).

Let's see... how did this happen again? Oh yea, a conversation started in one of Danny Choo's loot posts about male figures and how someone should make a yaoi type figma comics... And I suddenly came up with two ideas right away! My mind is twisted apparently, oh but you knew that already.

This will be an intermission of my current collaboration project with Wolfheinrich, so rest assured that will continue later on. These following 4koma comics are inspired by and dedicated to my good friend Yakuri. She's got an advance screening of this, but I added a little thing at the bottom of it afterwards :P

The Melancholy of Saber Lily Part 18

As you can see this is another Endless Eight parody. The dialogues are directly from the anime or at least from the fansubs that I copied this from. Well except for the last panel, but you get the idea. I chose the number 7401 because it sorta looks like the equivalent to "YAOI" ^^;

The Melancholy of Saber Lily Part 19

Oh so that's where Saber Lily's been hanging around at. Oooh and I guess this is the first appearance of Nagato Yuki on these panels! The scene is of course reminiscent of the 5th part of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya where Koizumi takes Kyon into the enclosed space. In this one Koizumi seems to have enclosed upon Kyon! GYAAAAH!! Also another Endless Eight reference in the last panel. Did you catch it? :)

Yuri Mania 20: Unlimited Lily Panel Works

Gokigenyou minna! Looks like I've been neglecting this yuri post for a while... I'd like to review Kanamemo again which I was planning to have 2 episodes in one post, but I couldn't find episode 8 yet. So for now you'll have to do with my collaboration with Wolfheinrich's Dollfie Dream Theatre.

And if you're new to Yuri Mania, "yuri" is Japanese for "lily", which is why you'll see a ton of lilies here ^^;

The Melancholy of Saber Lily Part 16

The above is a reference to the Endless Eight "arc" in the latest Haruhi Suzumiya anime, with a very different result. Now the question is... will I pull a KyoAni with these comics? XD If you don't know what I'm talking about then check out the multiple rage stories on Sankaku Complex. It's basically a repetition of the same episode over and over with a slightly different scenes and outfits, except for the first and last part, 8 parts in all. I am raging over this as well, but I did like the final episode where they finally end the damn thing. Lots of good comedy are coming out of this though; Snark's Nagato Yuki 4koma for example ^^

Looks like somebody was busy stealing my Lily panel when I was away playing Batman: Arkham Asylum. So...

I am the leaf of my flower.
Stem is my body, and herb is my blood.
I have created over a thousand pollens.

Yep, I did the KyoAni thing :P That ending sure hits the spot doesn't it? I dunno why, but the last panel just cracked me up to no end even before I made it XD ENJOY!

The Melancholy of Escalayer

"S.A.D.D" or "Suddenly Acquired Dollfie Dream", as litokid has noted, finally arrived in my room! Wolfheinrich's musume, Escalayer, is now in my room and "enjoying" the view... I wonder what she will find here...

Ok, not really... This is the Dollfie Dream TheaterXMelancholy of Saber Lily joint venture initiated by yours truly. Since I don't own a Dollfie of my own I decided to "borrow" Wolfheinrich's ^^; It started with just a few Puchi Blurbs conversation that triggered some ideas in my mind. So after a month of preparation (ok, mostly procrastination), it's finally done!

The Melancholy of Saber Lily Part 15

So Wolfheinrich's first daughter, Escalayer, got herself in quite a bind, eh? Oh umm... there's no Saber Lily in this one, but I prefer to keep the title to keep it consistent ;) Can anyone guess the reference I made to the title of this comic? Hint: It's not anime...

A lot of Photoshop magic and blood, sweat & tears went into this comic... I'm grateful for Wolf for being patient and accommodating to my silly requests. I'm sure it must be quite difficult for him to take the pictures for what I need through just email descriptions and sample background shots. But I was very impressed that he got the ones I needed even though I wasn't THAT descriptive. I also made many script changes as they come to my mind so I kept requesting more shots. LoL ^^; I hope Wolf doesn't hate me after this is all done XD

If you look closely at the bottom of the comic, I've added in Wolfheinrich's website address, along with a new address... Melancholic-Lily.blogspot.com. This is a new site that I just set up where you can read ALL the comics I've done so far. After I made so many, I realized that they're just all over the place on my blog... They didn't have any consistent titles and I didn't label them properly either. My friend suggested I should put a link in for the next one or the previous one on this current blog... Or create a site to put them all together. I chose the latter, like the masochist that I am...

The banner to The Melancholy of Saber Lily site

I spent all of Monday night after work setting up the site, uploading pictures, creating the links manually, battling loss of internet connections until 3 AM on Tuesday. I try not to make mistakes in my first attempt, but if you see any mistakes on that site, do let me know.

Wolfheinrich is currently in Japan now... so I have some time to think up of more ideas for this collaboration if I want to. ^^;
