MEIKO's Birthday Celebration 2012

Happy 8th birthday MEIKO! This is also my MEIKO Dollfie Dream's first birthday. I officially announced her this time last year ^_^ For her present, I commissioned a dress based on the Nostalogic video with Yumiko as Real Meiko!

St. Patty's and Patty's Meet

It's two. Two. TWO MEETS IN ONE! Yes, we had two doll meets within days of each other. Well to be fair they were two small meets so they were much more manageable :) The first one occurred on St. Patrick's Day on Saturday. We expected almost 20 people... Then realized that most of the attendees on the Facebook page were dolls ^^;;; Anyhoo! We still had lots of fun!

Kotatsu 2012

Kotatsu is a mini convention that started by the same group that made the Cos & Effect event last year at UBC. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling very well, so I barely took any photos. Fortunately, however, I met with a couple of new anibloggers in Vancouver and older ones as well. I was finally able to meet with the head of SUTORAIKUanime, Akinari-kun and staff writer SabishiiMiruku. Along with them I also met with RadiantDreamer and Kaionlriu.

And finally... The last part of my backlog. It ranged from mid-September to early December. Many events that I failed to post right after they happened, but usually it's because I go home late, tired and then the next day my work week starts again... ANYHOO... Happy New Year! ...Oh, it's way past that... Err... Happy Lunar New Year? Also a week late... Sigh... It's been so long since I posted anything here. I blame Star Wars: The Old Republic. So my first post of the year is backlog from last year, lol. I've been meaning to post these for a long time, but when you work night shift, you tend to get lazy on some days. I'll try to post as much as possible in between playing SWTOR and other social things ^^; Funny enough when I quit WoW I started blogging... So I sense a trend here XD

Anyway... These photos went all the way back to mid-September until mid-October 2011... Yes, that means I have a lot more after this ^^;;;;; Oh and also a lot of food pictures too for some reason XD

BlueStarBaby's Birthday Meet

I love alliteration! Indeed, this was BlueStarBaby having a meet to celebrate her birthday. Unfortunately I couldn't stay too long and just dropped by with snacks, a gift and a new Azone Pureneemo debut. Did you guess who my newest Azone girl was from my last post? There are a lot more Azones coming out too now. Most of them were Maruneko, but there was also an Azone/Volks hybrid on the far right of the picture, owned by the birthday girl ^^

A Week in Vancouver (After a Week in L.A.)

Well, technically three weeks in Vancouver, and technically it wasn't really a week in L.A., but you get the gist of it... I was trying to post this a week after my AX trip, but turns out it was one of the busiest month for me thus far! It's like every weekend there was something going on. I was going nuts XD Anyhoo... To begin, the picture above was actually taken before my trip, but it's a good starter. I actually found a shop in Richmond where they were selling these "breast enhancer" cookies ^^;

NERV HQ & Bday Presents

Here is the NERV HQ base that I got from Yakuri when I was in L.A. I first seen it on her blog and was impressed with it, but this time I have my own and assembled it. It's quite compact at first, but it opens up to a lot of things you see from the anime! Most impressive!

To Live and Eat in L.A.

Yeah, that's right, I took that title from a movie, To Live and Die in L.A. You got a problem with that? :P Anyhoo... This post is mostly photos from outside of Anime Expo which consists of scenery and food. That's right, food pictures, so if you're hungry, you may want to look at this post and lick the monitor...

Mini Doll Meet at a Maid Cafe

So even though I couldn't come to the originally planned BJD Meet in Langley in Early February, I was able to make it to this smaller one at the Nikkoffee Cafe which had maids as servers (you can see the maids at the end of this post). This cafe was smaller and fewer menu items but it was a bit better compared to the "Cosplay Cafe" that I went to before. It's also located in Richmond, across the Richmond City Hall.

The main event was, of course, the meet. We had quite a bit of people coming by and pretty much filled up the seats by the time I came at 11:15 am on Sunday (February 13th). It was pretty much our group for the longest time.

November Doll Meet

Last Saturday I attended another BJD meet and I'm still lacking an actual BJD ^^; But I did bring along Azunyan and Saber again. I think Azunyan is behaving well during meets... She doesn't turn yandere... I wonder if it's because everyone else is bigger than her?

There are tons of pictures here, so I won't mince too much words and I'll keep the thumbnails smaller. This meet took place in Richmond in one of the member's apartment lounge. It's a very roomy space, but some of the tables and chairs were nailed down to the floor, lol! We all went to the Richmond Public Market for Bubble Tea and some Asian lunch. I got myself a mint chocolate bubble tea and nasi lemak for lunch. Big portion! I was pretty much full afterward!

Mini Doll Meet - Oct. 23, 2010

So after a quick meeting with the Vancouver BJD group at Anime Evolution, I found myself landing in the middle of an actual Doll Meet or Doll Meat as Chun would like to call it :P

Well this isn't the actual official meet that I went to at first. It was a smaller group consisting of only 6 people and we all went to Magnetic Cafe. For me it was the second time, but for everyone else it was the first time. At least for this new version of the cafe with the "cosplay" aspect. As Azunyan is the only official doll that I have, she gets the spotlight, but I thought I'd bring her Nendoroid counterpart for more fun ^^

Reunion at Torarenbo

At the planning stages, my 2 college friends and I never thought of it as a reunion, just a gathering. We occasionally meet up and have dinner together to catch up. It was always hard for us to decide where to eat. It takes at least a few emails before we decided. Fortunately I was browsing Chun's blog at the time and saw her new favourite sushi restaurant, Torarenbo. So since I haven't had sushi for a while and was craving it, I tossed the idea in the air and... well... It landed there.

So logically, I will warn you that this contains food photos, not as many, but enough to make you hungry or craving for sushi... Blame Chun for this :P

Cosplay Cafe in Vancouver

Something from Japan that I didn't think would happen here would be the [in]famous maid/cosplay cafe... I remember that there was a maid cafe in Toronto at one time, however that one doesn't exist anymore. So I assumed no one would dare to try it out again in Canada. How wrong I was.

TakoLuka Fun: 20 Years in Canada Addendum

So as I mentioned earlier... We celebrated our 20th year in Canada by going to all-you-can-eat sushi at Oo Saki Machi. There were seven of us; my brother's girlfriend and a couple who are very close family friends.

Ecchi Food and TakoLuka

Can food be ecchi? Well I'm sure there's that kind of fetish somewhere, but I'm not talking that kind of "ecchi food". I'm talking about the pleasure kind of ecchi, y'know, like you know it's good, but you shouldn't do it all the time. Well this is that kind of food... The KFC Double Down. Two pieces of bacon and cheese sandwiched between two pieces of breaded boneless chicken slathered with spicy mayonnaise. Delicious? Kinda. Good for you? HELL NO!

Just so you know... the top half of this post contains food. Probably not the kind you'd eat, but it's still food, so if you're hungry then I'd say proceed at your own risk or skip to the last half of the post.

Yuri Mania 22: A Very Lily Christmas

Gokigenyou minna-san! Meri Kurisumasu! By the time this is posted, it should be Christmas or Christmas Eve. I don't usually plan on doing Christmas posts because I'm sure there will be lots out there, but these ideas for yuri 4koma cannot escape my mind! And wow... I haven't done a Yuri Mania since September 0.o

Komugi Nakahara

One of my favourite characters from early 2000's is Komugi Nakahara. She is originally a side character from Soul Taker, but either the fans or the staff members liked her so much that they made a spinoff OVAs that focused on her. Thus the Nurse Witch Komugi-chan Magicarte was born!

So it definitely gives me a reason to get this figure of Komugi. Her line of figures aren't exactly all over the place, so this is a nice get even though I didn't find out about her until she was released already.

Two of my closest friends from college get together once in a while to have dinner and catch up. This time we decided to have it at a sushi restaurant on Friday night. The food is the typical sushi fare that you see in other Japanese sushi restaurants, but the location is quite unique.
